If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio
3.0
i wanted to connect with the characters so bad but i just couldn’t :(
i enjoyed the story a lot though, it was well written and the plot was really enjoyable. the way the setting was described made me feel like i was physically there, really liked the vibes
i didn’t understand some of the authors choices; like oliver’s family (like caroline having an eating disorder and that being mentioned a lot), and why james and oliver were in love the whole time but didn’t actually displayed it. i would’ve loved a lot more of inner dialogue of oliver thinking about james
in the end, it was a good book but i didn’t feel like i had time with the characters to really get to know them; it was more plot heavy but the book felt like it was written for a character driven book. that was a bit disappointing for me :(
