The Retreat
by Sarah Pearse
Fast paced but similar to the first Elin novel. Locked room murders, stranded at a hotel etc.
I found this one a little messy - too many story lines for one plot. The author left so many loose ends & unanswered questions, from Elin’s family drama, the past & present murders, Leger family fire etc. Lots of good ideas but nothing that contributed to the whole overall story. There wasn’t a resolution on how the murderer was able to commit all of the murders, either.
Dissatisfied with the ending but I’m beginning to expect the lack of resolution with this series. I will read the third book in the hopes that the author will finally focus on the stalker that has been plaguing Elin for the last 2 novels.
