Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann
1.0

It's been a really crazy past few weeks around here.  It's my craziest season at work, we have been dealing with the nasty flooding - thankfully, we personally and our families are fine and dry but many in our town are not - and we just haven't been reading much.  When we have, I've been bouncing around between a few books, but I finally wrapped up most of those last night/this morning.  Nick and I both just finished Crossroads of Twilight - #10 in the Wheel of Time megaseries by Robert Jordan - and that's definitely been taking up a lot of reading time.  I'll let him tell you about that one, though!

I grabbed this book off the shelf a few weeks ago because it seemed pretty light and like a good break from the things I've been reading lately/the craziness of life.  The sheep are the main characters and their shepard has been killed - and the sheep are determined to find out who did it.  Talking sheep, nice, light cozy mystery, right?  Nope.

At first it was amusing.  The sheep talk, the sheep think in their sheepy ways - humorous.  But then it got SLOW.  SO SLOW.  I'm not totally sure what happened in the middle two thirds of the story, except for the sheep think strangely and they didn't understand what was going on.  Then the ending seemed to come out of nowhere.  Not at all how I expected the story to wrap up.

The ending raised my overall judgement of this book a bit - for awhile there, I didn't think there would be much of an explanation or ending at all - but overall, would NOT recommend.  I about gave up on this book many times, but after I put a certain amount of time into it, it seems silly to quit.  I still regret that decision.

I'll go 2 of 10 for enjoyment and 3 of 5 for readability.  Not what I expected and didn't get better, but at least the ending sort of wrapped things up? Also - not for children.  Just going to throw that out there too.
