Heart full of feelings after finishing this stunner of a book - it’s joyful and beautiful and strong and I have actual tears in my eyes from finishing this story.
The book follows 17-year-old Emoni Santiago who expresses herself through cooking. Everybody loves her cooking and she loves cooking for people. Emoni is an aspiring chef and dreams of attending a culinary school where she further her skills, but having a 3-year-old daughter is making her dream come true challenging. The book is about Emoni facing struggles that are really relatable to a lot of people.
The characters are what stood out the most for me in this book. Nothing felt forced or like a plot point. Every one of the characters felt so real like somebody you might run into in the street. The plot and pace of this book were fantastic as well. Never once felt like I needed to force myself through a chapter.
Loved every second of reading this one!
