Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Volume 1: Change is Constant by Kevin Eastman, Tom Waltz

4.0

By the time I was old enough to engage with TMNT, it had become a merch factory. The only meaningful ways I consumed it were the first movie (which is still great, by the way) and the video games; I never watched the show regularly and I certainly never read any of the comics - so I was going in relatively fresh.

That doesn't matter so much as this is a new continuity and there's a new (but mostly familiar) origin story at play here. I liked this new take on the origin as it adds an extra layer of complexity to a handful of characters. The action is good, the art is fantastic, and the characters are written pretty well. I will probably read a good amount of this Eastman run!
