Feverborn by Karen Marie Moning

3.0

I had forgotten a lot of my pedo concerns from books 6 and 7, since it had been a while since I read the previous installment and I didn't reread the series before getting this book. I was quickly reminded but felt that Moning toned it down a bit so it felt a little less creepy and overbearing. Or maybe I am being brainwashed slowly overtime, so I will eventually come around.

But afterwards I was left with a feeling of, "Wait what happened?" and in short the answer is not a whole lot of anything. The same feelings were rehashed, there wasn't much further character development, no problems were really solved. It all just built up to the next book; I just read 400 pages of filler.
Spoiler There were a few new plot points such as Alina somehow being alive again, but we don't know how or why; or that Dani/Jada and Mac have mended their relationship once again. But really the focus seemed to be how nothing was solved around the black holes; Barrons still won't commit to a labeled relationship with Mac, but boy oh boy he has a large endowment and knows how to use it, and will always be there for her; the book is in Mac and no one knows who is in control and what it means; Jada/Dani has issues etc.

Yet somehow Moning drew me back in to the world and characters and I enjoyed this while I was reading it. I'm pleading momentary insanity on this one.
