Abercrombie seems to be the current big thing in contemporary written fantasy which is a-ok by me since he seems to hate the genre as much as I do. This entire book is taking every bad fantasy cliche and turning it on its head. All the while telling a meaningful and exciting story.

Fantasy fans will dig it because it has blood and guts and swords and magic. Big it's also got a strong anti-war anti-violence anti-fantasy message that I did not expect when I picked it up.
