City of Glass
by Cassandra Clare
To be honest, I feel a little silly giving such an indulgent read such a high rating, but the last of the trilogy really rounded the whole series out for me in a way that other series sometimes fail to do. Not only did Cassandra expand the knowledge that I already had of the world, but she also explained things that I thought I knew in more depth, and I felt the characters and relationships here grew and became much more complex than they were in the first two. Also, I forgot to mention that the second one and this one brings in some philosophical ideas into debate, which I always like of course.
I suppose the good thing about being so annoyed with Clary is that I can see how she's grown from what she's gone through. Still impulsive and slightly bratty/annoying, yes, but at least with her share of scars and battles.
If you're okay with a sometimes overdose of girly romantic-ness (but still measured relatively evenly with details of battles and fights), then I would definitely give this series a shot.
