Glad I came back to this because I definitely got a lot more out of it this time than I did in high school.

"Everyone's life is a way into himself, or the attempt at a way, the hint of a path. No one is utterly and completely himself; everyone strives to become himself, however he can, this one dully, that one more brightly." - pg. 2

"...you've had an urge in yourself, for a year or so, that is considered 'forbidden.' The Greeks, on the other hand, and many other peoples too, considered this urge a God, and they honored it in great festivals. In other words, 'forbidden' is not an eternal truth—it can change." - pg. 50

"The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Whoever wants to be born must destroy a world. The bird flies to god. The god is called Abraxas." - pg. 73
