slow at times but an interesting concept. i think the author should have leaned in more to the mystery of it and added in more horror elements, because for a good chunk of the book it didn’t seem to know if it wanted to be a gothic mystery or a ya romance. i also didn’t love the narration, it felt like the cadence of someone reading a bedtime story. but i think the ending was well done and had the desired effect
