I really loved this book, and would recommend it to all librarians and cat lovers. (for the record, I consider myself the first but not the latter) It was amazing to me how much the story had to do with our situation today. The parallels between the farm crisis of the late 70's and early 80's and today are quite eerie. The fact that when Dewey the cat was found, the library was in the process of reinventing itself by providing resume services and job preparation information is quite telling. It's a feel good book that librarians and library lovers should read to see how libraries can adapt themselves to whatever situation they find themselves in to serve the needs of the public.
