The Water Babies by Charles Kingsley
1.0

Ugh. This was a chore to read. I suppose when this was written 150+ years ago, it must have seemed very topical and clever, with thinly veiled references to ideas and conflicts of the era. If the story itself had been more interesting, like the Chronicles of Narnia as an example, the book may have survived. The dull narrative is the book’s weakness, and the anachronistic bigotry is its death knell.
