fast-paced

3.25

I think I made the mistake of reading The Alliance series before this series. My expectations were a little too high. I think it was too fast-paced for me. Everything felt rushed. However, I loved the storyline. I think it was cute (and a bit awkward) that she fell in love at 7, and it continued for so long that she didn't know what to do with herself. Especially to the point, where she felt so heartbroken. I feel like that is so relatable.
Beckett was too much for me. I love a dominant guy, but he came across as practically feral.
I was almost turned off when he confessed to Elouise that he had this sort of connection to her when she was 7. Yes, he realized the age difference was wrong and never did anything disgusting, but I felt like that little tidbit could have been avoided.

The twist of just thrown in there for me. I saw the foreshadowing, but it just felt like it was an added filler- an attempt at a dark twist to make people be like "I can't believe that happened". But to me, it was like, "Why did that have to happen? Wasn't the ex showing up enough?"
