Reread - I don't know if it's because I listened to it on audio this time or I read it too fast the last time but I loved it more this time around. The characters are all so well-developed and have these outer shells that they've been forced into by circumstance but actually are vulnerable and so, so human on the inside. The magic system and Yale are pretty scary here but the commentary on privilege and power and abuse hit hard in the year of our Lord 2023. So good. Can't wait to read Hell Bent. Read if you like dark academia, but also a good murder mystery, kids in way over their heads, GHOSTS, and character-driven fiction.
