I've read this author once before and reading this confirms her plots have the predictability of an untied shoe, but for some reason I can't stop reading.

The beginning was very lackluster but I grew out of it, and in my opinion Nicholas and Andrew's relationship felt rushed but it might be me used to slow burn. Unlike when I read Two Rogues Make a Right, this actually had semblance of a plot and was well thought out with research, and both the leading characters had some built-in backstory this time. I know Two Rogues wasn't supposed to have a plot but it felt like there was an attempt to write one anyway, unlike this novel. It's corny in every way which I do enjoy, and some times funny despite the subject matter. Needed more leftism and less of the MCs flimsy interclass relationship (my anarchist heart yearns).

My only dispute is how suddenly Nicholas didn't give a damn about going stealth cuz he wanted to keep doing his dirty cop article, despite him through the first half of the book being (reasonably) terrified of being spotted. Now Andy is the one worrying about his safety, the high-key inattentive and privelaged one out of the two of them. It only took Nick being stalked by cops to screw the head back on. TF happened there?

I'm adamant on whether to say I liked this book or not. But considering how disappointed I was with the last one, it was good. The writing was a massive improvement. Overall do not regret reading, and it only took me a day to do so. As a slow reader I appreciate that. Will continue to read Cat.
