Engaging, heartbreaking, brilliant! Though set in the 1950s and 60s, Where the Crawdads Sing is, in its treatment of racial and social division and the fragile complexities of nature, obviously relevant to contemporary politics and ecology.
Graphic: Physical abuse, Sexual content, Abandonment, Sexual harassment
The author includes the triggering topics as part of the tapestry of the story and it is not gratuitous, but rather a necessary part of the development of the plot. I did cry several times throughout my experience with this book.
