A Short History of the World According to Sheep by Sally Coulthard

informative medium-paced

4.0

The title makes this sound like a really quirky book, and the chapter headings don't help, but it is in fact a serious survey of history through the way humans have used and lived alongside sheep. There are a lot of interesting facts I'd never heard about, along with some I didn't know -- I was a bit disappointed that the myth about distinctive Aran sweaters was as false and spurious as the Scottish tartan. Booo.

I would have liked to see a few more citations -- there are notes on the sources at the back, but it's not easy to look at a specific claim and then check it in a source.

Still, pretty easy to read and informative, in that way I love.
