The conclusion to the Sisters of Salem trilogy! Hunter and Mercy are lost to each other, both in different worlds. Mercy is trapped in the Egyptian underworld while Hunter is drowning in her mistakes and desperate to find her missing sister. Can the sisters find each other and fix the gates to each of the other realms?

This one was loads better than Omens Bite, by far. I almost didn't want to continue with the series after that one, but I'm glad I did. We get to see Hunter and Mercy make up, and for each of them to figure out their mistakes and actually try to fix them--we don't get that in a lot of YA books, or even in books in general. Mistakes (unless they drive the plot) and character flaws are glossed over, left to the side.

But then we get to the ending. I was about 40 pages from the end and confused--was this actually a series, not a trilogy? There just didn't seem to be enough pages left to do what still needed to be done. And...well, I was right and wrong. The ending was just incredibly rushed (the entire book is about healing the trees and preserving the integrity of the gates and...that is how that it's solved?) and honestly very unsatisfying. I'm still really not sure that the trees were healed or not. There were a lot of rushed, unsatisfying things in the ending.

So if you made it through Omens Bite and are wondering if it's worth it, I'd say yes it is.
