Fangirl, Vol. 1: The Manga by Rainbow Rowell, Sam Maggs

5.0

My favourite book gets a comic/graphic novel/manwha treatment and I LOVE it. I am so hyped that I get to read this one! Sadly, it is rated a bit lower than I rated the normal book. Maybe because I just found Cath more annoying and controlling than in the book, then again it's been a while since I read the book, maybe my thoughts on Cath have changed. I get that things are scary for her, that she has anxiety, but I just didn't like how she acted with her sister/dad. I just for once wanted to see her say yes to her very friendly (and I wanted her as a roommate) Reagan. I love Nick, I love Levi (though I wish he would respect Cath's choice of name for once).
I love love the art, really, it is sooooooo gorgeous and I love seeing Baz and Simon come to life. Can we have more of that? Haha.
Not sure if I would call it a manga, it does have manga-style art, but manga-style art doesn't just make a book manga. Haha. Given it is done by a Korean artist, I think it would be closer to manwha then. *awaits all the people to tell her that her opinion is wrong*
But all in all, I really really enjoyed this one, and I cannot wait for the next volume.
