I liked the historical aspect of the story and learning about this time. I also liked how the ending felt full circle. But I found it to be a difficult and rather long read which took away the enjoyment factor for me. Although I think extensive research went into it, there were so many characters and foreign names and accents, not to mention traditions and rituals, that I spent a lot of time looking back and the-reading parts.
