Perfection. The only problem I have is how hard it is to read past my tears.
This is peak fantasy! The world, the story telling, the camaraderie, the love, the strife, the toll that violence takes on the land and on people. Coming home but realizing both you and home are forever changed.
It is self-evident why these books are cornerstones of the fantasy genre and have basically never been out of print in 70 years. Even if you haven't read Tolkien, you have been exposed to a world influenced by Tolkien.
