So... I *hated* Life of Pi. I mean, really, truly *loathed* it, not just 'didn't get on with it'. I read it the whole way through and nearly threw the book (actual paper book) across the room at the end.

So, it was with some trepidation that I picked up The High Mountains of Portugal.

However, I really enjoyed this book. It moved me to tears, repeatedly, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to others.
