The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn

5.0

It seems that this year I have only read books that Slayra lent me! This is another one of her library... She introduced me to Julia Quinn, to the Bridgerton series and I am very grateful to her. *hugs*

Well, in this book we follow the Anthony's story, where we learn he's confronted with his mortality at a somewhat young age, when his father died, and decides to lead a bohemian life. However, reaching his 30's, and fearing that his time is near (after all his father was in excellent shape and still died on his prime), decides to marry and he evens knows with whom. But he didn't think he had to ask the sister of the girl he set to marry for permission, much less did he thought to fall for her. On the other hand, Kate Sheffield knowing Anthony's reputation and desiring the best for her sister, tries to separate them and discover his true intentions, only to end up falling in love with him.

I already knew the outcome of this story, since I read books 4 and 5, but I still loved it. This book might not be as good as the fourth book (which remains my favourite, with Colin as the protagonist, a character who in these first volumes still wins my heart :P "You wound me!" lol) but the characters have good chemistry and are protagonists of some hilarious scenes, such as the game of Pall Mall, something that seemed to be missing in other books: the fifth volume had some humour but the dark tone seemed to be more dominant, the first book hadn't such a good chemistry between the couple. In this one, the relationship is very well developed and, even though it might be difficult to understand the fears of each character, we can't remain indifferent to their struggle to overcome their demons. By the way, I liked the author's note referring to fears, especially Anthony's, which contributed to a better understanding of the character.

Another nice book by this author, great for romantic souls, or even less romantic ones who just want to have a good time. :)
