I enjoyed this one and tore through it super quickly! It’s not my favourite of the Dark Olympus series (Wicked Beauty, Cruel Seduction, and of course Neon Gods take my top spots) but I did feel like the first MM romance in the series was definitely done justice.

For a series that’s primarily a vehicle for excellent smut (truly nobody is out here writing a sex scene like Katee Robert), there was actually less sex in this one than I anticipated, and zeroed in a bit more on the political tension and emotional / character elements. In general the whole story felt very fast paced, especially given that it only takes place over the span of like, a week, and I do think it could have been longer to make things feel a bit more realistic and flesh everything out a bit more.

I did genuinely like both Poseidon and Icarus, and I really liked them together! But I would have liked to see more of them sharing their pasts / history with each other and seeing how that understanding would lead them to see how much they would be compatible in a relationship. I appreciated that Icarus pretty quickly caught on to Poseidon’s stimming, but I do wish that they had more explicitly discussed Poseidon being autistic, if that was the intent for his character, even in a very brief/casual way. It’s obvious how much of a connection and immediate understanding these two have, so I think I just wanted to witness more of it unfolding as they learned to trust one another!

I am so ready for the next instalment but also am getting sad that we’re almost at the end!
