I'm still not sure what to make of this book. Many of the critiques of this book I agree with - it feels a bit disconnected and anti-climactic. Set in Detroit during the mid-1930s, Stanton tries to make the connection between the three major sports teams in Detroit in that era - the Tigers, the Red Wings, and the Lions - having championship seasons. That alone would have been an intriguing story. However, he also attempts to connect those events with a secret society called the Black Legion. The Black Legion was notorious for their Klan-like activities, murdering enemies, forcing people to join, etc. That story was also interesting. It was the connections between all of these things that didn't really fit for me. And the ending was very anticlimactic. It was well-written and interesting, but not one that will really stick with me.
