Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This book was very interesting. While the party did fall a bit flat for me, I almost think that was the point. This is a family drama, through and through, and while the descriptions can teeter on being tedious, it still made me nostalgic for a beach that I've never visited. The descriptions of familial love grief and trauma in this book are very well done, it has changed my view on family and parenthood. Overall an entertaining read, if not slightly ill-advertised.
