Not as massive in scope as The Luminaries (one of my all time favorites), Birnam Wood is a slow burn thriller in which a dozen different plot threads converge in a satisfying way. Eleanor Catton’s prose is direct and lively, and she’s great at revealing her characters’s flaws, strengths, and secrets.
