lambders 's review for:
Foundation
by Isaac Asimov
A really interesting premise. After the downfall of the Galactic Empire, the galaxy reverts to what is analogous to Europe's "Dark Ages." However, instead of losing all the scientific knowledge accrued throughout the centuries, it is preserved by members of the Foundation and preached as a kind of pseudo-religion in the galaxy's periphery colonies.
In a time where religion and science are often perceived as being on the opposite sides of the spectrum, it was interesting to see how the two subjects take on the same role in Asimov's universe. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series -- Asimov manages to create a very complex world through weaving together the experiences of several characters, and does so in a very interesting and cohesive manner.
