Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins

5.0

Harper Jane Price is your normal, Southern Belle. Complete with the y’alls and clubs. She is a great leader, great student, and great friend.

By all means, she’s perfect.

And she’s totally going to win Homecoming Queen.

Except, the night doesn’t end up quite like she imagined and suddenly she has…superpowers? Now she has to protect the lives of her friends and family, her loved ones and not so loved ones.

And there’s one person she has to protect above all else.

Will her new ninja skills be enough to save lives? Or will she die trying?

This book is as hilarious as it is good. And the book is amazing. Rachel Hawkins writes in such a wittingly funny way that I didn’t want to put the book down. (Unfortunate when I was reading during my lunch break) There were several laugh out loud moments and moments where I had to put the book down because I was laughing too hard.

Oh. And it has the best not-love-triangle I have ever read. It’s NOT a love triangle, but it is, but it isn’t, and it was a wonderful surprise.

Harper is my kind of girl. Overachieving, perfectionist, and goal-orientated. She’s a people pleaser at the beginning of the book and by the end of it, I think she understands what really matters. The growth of the characters, the love that forms, is pretty neat to read.

As the story develops, and the characters face new dangers, the stakes are raised higher and higher until that final moment where everything could be lost.

And let’s not forget how hilarious this book is. I mean, hysterical. I’m dying for Miss Mayhem. (Book 2)
