Crazy Stupid Bromance
by Lyssa Kay Adams
After the first one in the series, I skipped the second book because I refused to touch Liv’s book and my friend picked this one because it had a cat on the cover.
Alexis is a bakery owner who experienced sexual harassment by a famous chef (in the previous book) and is now helping women who were in similar situations. She was accosted by a rando claiming to be her sister, asking her to donate her kidney to a man that’s apparently her dad, whom she’s never heard from in her life??? So .. girl’s got things going on. I didn’t like the difficult position Alexis was put in, but thankfully she had her friend/guy who is clearly in love with her since day one, Noah! Noah does some IT security thing? Idk his entire personality trait was his crush on Alexis. If I had a dime for every time either of them said “what are friends for”, I would be able to afford a Starbucks venti latte (with oat milk).
The book club aspect wasn’t as prominent in this book but it was cute seeing the boys discuss Mack’s wedding and continue to take pride in their book club.
It was an easy chill read but I was never really HOOKED and I didn’t bother with the spicy scenes because the initial words “swollen nub” made me want to vomit. It alternated between their POV but it was still written in third person so that might have contributed to why I wasn’t deeply invested (it’s been less than a week and I can’t remember the third act conflict but whatever, they solved it I guess).
Overall it was okay. I liked the cat.
