Macbeth by William Shakespeare
3.0

I liked Macbeth much better than the other Shakespearian tragedies I've read in the past. Romeo & Juliet and Othello just annoyed me because none of the characters had any common sense and the tragedies could've been avoided through a little communication. Macbeth wasn't like that, though. It was a much more interesting analysis of human nature, of the lengths that people will go to to gain power. Macbeth obviously idolized power and desired it more strongly than anything else in his life, believing it would satisfy him, but it only brought him pain and enslaved him. I'd like to see this performed some day, as I'm fairly certain I didn't get the whole picture through reading it / listening to a pieced-together audio version of it, and I read the last two acts far too fast. It was more interesting and less irritating than most tragedies I've read.
