This book was so much heavier and darker and BETTER than it had any right to be. Like what the hell. It was a wonderful surprise. I went in expecting surface level, angsty romance, and got like a deep commentary on life and war and love. I loved the magic system, I loved the way the relationship built. I just really enjoyed the whole damn thing.
