joylesnick 's review for:
The Lacuna
by Barbara Kingsolver
I loved this book. Four stars for the book (I've never liked Kingsolver this much!) and a bonus star for Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and the Day of the Dead in Mexico worked in there. I didn't expect this to be historical fiction, and I had to keep double checking whether the main character Harrison Shepherd was real, or inserted into real events in history. This is well worth persisting through the first 50 less-than-exciting pages. I received this as a birthday gift a few years ago and can't believe I waited so long to read it. It was worth the wait and fun to discuss.
