The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
by Stephen King
What an awesome literary start to this year. After maxing out on fantasy at the end of last year, this was just the book to reinvigorate my passion for reading. A total page-turning survival story, with little Trish in the middle.
I really enjoyed the way the author played with the supernatural - it really brought the persistence and strength of Trish to life. It showed how she fought two battles - the physical (surviving the wilderness) and the spiritual (not losing her spirit). Even the final scene, where Death is shot and morphs in to a bear, symbolises the win, showing she has finally faced and overcome her fears.
Highly recommend
