Catch-22 by Joseph Heller

I loved this as a teenager and I have loved it again, many years later. I can understand why people find it difficult to get through; it's a long, dark, circuitous journey, but I find it so very funny , often touching and the characters are ridiculously wonderful. It's absurd and I think I like absurdity. War is absurd and Yossarian does a great job of pointing that out.
