Forged by Malice by Elizabeth Helen

“How does one hold on to hope when it has waned to but a sliver of moonlight?”

This was the best in this series so far for me. It was different from the other two; better writing in my opinion, felt like the authors found their own and really flourished in the Spring realm with Forged by Malice.

I felt like the beginning was quite an info dump, though I enjoyed the backstory and more detailed lore of Ezryn and the Spring realm. I really enjoyed the different POVs as with the better writing I could really tell the difference between each POV and it definitely added a lot to the story.

There's some points in the book where I genuinely wanted to strangle Rose, Day and Kel with how oblivious they were! Very frustrating but ultimately I enjoyed knowing things from the clues that the characters didn't. I'm interested to know how things play out in the next book.

SpoilerEnjoyed the foreshadowing with Wrenley at the beginning of the book, though it's pretty damn obvious that she's Nightingale in disguise and she's put a love potion/spell of sorts on Day as he is very clearly Rosie's mate.
.

Caspian. Honestly utterly obsessed with this character. He is by far my favourite of all!! Can't wait to see more of his development in the next book.

That cliffhanger though!!! Elizabeth & Helen are taking inspiration from SJM because I am absolutely heartbroken. I have to say, it really sets it up for the next novel and I cannot wait to read it!
