Sworn to Silence
by Linda Castillo
If you like Dean Koontz, Linda Castillo is a must. Like Sharon Bolton, Riley Sager, or Karin Slaughter, Castillo knows how to write a gripping, edge-of-your-seat thriller that you won't be able to put down. Add the mystique of the Amish community in the background, and you get this series. Sworn to Silence introduces us to police chief Kate Burkholder, who maintains relations and politics between the English and the Amish in rural Ohio. Set against a pleasant country background, a horrific killer seems to have returned from the grave to continue what he started 16 years ago. Kate was already tangled up in the case then despite only being 14; now she needs to find a killer fast before his body count climbs even higher. Punctuated with gruesome murders and a truly sick serial killer, I could not put this npvel down and read it in a single day.
