Losing It
by Crystal Kaswell
Let me start off by saying that I have never laughed so much while reading a book. The awkwardness accompanied by the commentary from the guys and Chloe at the shop was perfect.
I am Quinn. Not the virgin part. But the awkward and wanting to learn part. Finding a guy like Wes to be a teacher would be like striking gold. Quinn and Wes were childhood friends. Their parents were friends in college and when said parents would get together, they would have the kids hang out together. Fast forward to 10+ years, and they’re not kids anymore. They suffer from anxiety and fear of disappointment.
Quinn has just graduated from college with a degree in Biology and focus on pre-med. It’s what was supposed to be her life. It was mapped out for her since she could comprehend it. But she hates it. The idea of spending 60-80+ hours a week working at a hospital was terrifying for her. And not the good type of terrifying. So before she goes back home to Chicago for med school, she has one wish. To lose her virginity.
Wes was introduced a little bit in Hunter and Emma’s book. He was basically the goofy younger brother. But getting to know him in his own book was eye-opening. Wes is a care-taker whether or not he knows it. But he’s also been called an enabler. Wes is the only one to run to his mother when she falls off the wagon (which is a lot) and repeats that every single time.
Quinn has a wish that Wes will take her virginity. She made a list of guys that would be up suitable for the job and he made the cut. Actually he was at the top of the list. I didn’t know how it would play out. I for sure thought that he would turn her away. But Wes surprised me. Their chemistry surprised me. But as they get to know one another, feelings started to muddle the line they had drawn. Pushing aside the feelings for each other…more like avoiding them…they attempted to keep the arrangement going.
These two were a perfect pair. The shy gal to the boisterous guy. The virgin and the experienced. But they had one thing in common. The more time they spent together and those differences no longer matter, they had one thing in common.
I love Crystal Kaswell’s writing. I spent two weeks reading her Dangerous Noise series, Sinful Serenade series, and now her Inked Hearts series. One of my top authors of the year.
