Foul Lady Fortune by Chloe Gong
5.0
It’s no secret that I’ll read anything Chloe Gong writes; each novel is masterfully crafted with entertaining tropes that go above and beyond conventionality and are created into stories that are interesting and just plain fun. I absolutely devoured FLF, and I can’t wait for its sequel. I especially loved the depiction of Chinese history throughout this work, as Gong’s previous duology stayed relatively closer to fiction with the rival Scarlet Gang and White Flowers. Overall, these characters are undeniably magnetic, and I enjoyed the continuation of Rosalind and Celia Lang’s stories, as well as reintroducing Alisa. If Gong gave me her grocery list to tide me over the sequel, I would read it. I’m obsessed. No notes.
