Greywaren by Maggie Stiefvater

I feel like I’m mostly just disappointed. I have adored The Raven Cycle and it’s characters and story for years. I trusted the first two books of this trilogy although I thought they were just okay because I love Stiefvater as an author and truly expected the third book to pull everything together, but for me it just didn’t. Everything was too fanciful in a “magic can fix everything” kind of way. For the stakes to be as high as they were, it never felt like there was ever any real danger. It felt like new information was being dropped on us so that the author could come up with an ending for a story she didn’t fully plan. Critical things that just don’t make sense being announced at the final hour. It felt like some characters were not written out of character to create tension. The only part I somewhat liked was the epilogue and that’s probably because it had old TRC characters. Sort of a bitter way to end a universe I’ve cherished, with a trilogy that fell very flat.
