I was excited for this book, but I think a notable lack of characterization was what mainly kept me from enjoying this story. There was something missing to Sal... I don't know, it was like Sal was just a bit lifeless and empty. There wasn't a whole lot of suspense or on-the-edge-of-your-seat moments either, and the competition's events and outcome were predictable.
