Re-Read Review - This book has been living rent-free in my head since I first borrowed it from the library as a kid. 20 years later and it's in no danger of being evicted.
I don't know if this can be called the O.G. of cozy fantasy, but it has a similar formula: the stakes are low and the warm and fuzzy feelings are high. There's a certain whimsy to the tone making it perfect for kids and kids-at-heart.
This has long been a Bookshelf Essential for me.
