Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine

4.0

I read this book after reading The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman. I actually gave The Invisible Library 4 stars, initially. I had to revised that review a little, as I enjoyed this one just a tad more. If we actually could give points instead of just stars I would say this gets 4.25 stars and could leave Invisible Library at 4. But, alas, GR doesn't do points. All of that being said I did really love both books. I will also say that I was shocked with how many series there are about some sort of library outside the realm of the brick and mortar libraries all bibliophiles know and love.

Having read the first book in both series now, I can say that both authors have piqued my interest enough to read book 2 in both. I find it very interesting that the authors have such different concepts, one being a more magnanimous entity there to help our reality as well as other realities coexist in peace and harmony. While, with the other there seems to be more nefarious dealings lurking just below the surface. Both books were fast paced and kept my interest, and had some great things going for them. They each had characters that were relatable and likeable (one even has a dragon shifter). Even though I did find Ink and Bone a little more enjoyable, I feel that it's going to boil down to which author can make future installments interesting enough to keep my interest.
