a fun and culturally rooted where two twin high school sisters are the ones driving the story forward in this “sequel” to The Firekeeper’s Daughter. I think reading the Fireekeeper’s Daughter first is not a requirement to understanding and enjoying this story (rather than a direct sequel, Daunis is now the aunt to the twins). the story is not realistic in the same way that the Ocean’s movies are not realistic (and on similar heist levels to Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li). I saw some reviews that say it is a little preachy and on the nose, especially at first, but I think that was an intentional decision and adds to the realistic high school main character and she learns to appreciate nuance and different perspectives as the book continues.
