What Light by Jay Asher
5.0
“I don't know how to fully enjoy any of these moments without wondering if it's the last.”
- Jay Asher, What Light
Review:
I’ll be honest, I really wasn’t expecting to like this book, especially when I’m always putting it off. But I’m glad I finally decided to pick it up.
This book is not that “magical” or “extravagant” compared to other books, but it was written beautifully. I really love how light this book is, it’s such a refresher for me since I was reading this alongside A Little Life, and it really helped brighten my mood, and it made me lose track of time. I just wanted to continue reading it and not put it down. Yes, this book is very simple and straightforward, but that’s what I love about this book. With it being very straightforward and easy to read, it makes it such a great comfort book. I’m definitely picking this up whenever I’m feeling under the weather. I just love how bubbly this book makes me.
I also loved the characters in this book, Heather and Sierra’s friendship is the best and I wished we had seen more of them. I also love Sierra and Caleb. Their relationship is so cute and wholesome. Also, I want to add how Devon is such a great boyfriend for Heather, I know he’s just a side character, but I really love how he’s very observant.
Overall, I really love and enjoyed this book. Which is why I rated it 5 out 5 stars. This was such an enjoyable read; I would definitely be rereading this again. Do I recommend you reading this book? Definitely! If you want a very quick, light and wholesome book, then this is the right book for you. I was practically grinning all throughout while reading this book.
