Thank you so much to Kaleidoscopic Book Tours for organising the tour and the author and publisher for providing a beautiful gifted copy of the book for me to read and review.

This was my very first Nielson book and it definitely won’t be the last.

It is a book that I actually don’t know how to review in a way that conveys just how good it actually is.

This is the story of a teenage boy named Wilbur (after the pig in his favourite book, Charlottes Web) and his struggles with love, heartbreak, friendship, bullying, body shame and general awkwardness!

The writing is absolutely effortlessly full of fun, heart and humour. I don’t remember the last time a book had me giggling so much.

Wilbur is an amazing character with a lot of inner strength but no confidence in himself or who he is. His self improvement journey when he meets a girl he likes during an exchange trip is nothing short of wonderful.

Wilbur’s friends are in short supply in the beginning but the ones who does have, 85 year old best friend Sal and gay friend Alex are both absolutely adorable and I just really don’t have a bad word to say about the cast of characters at all.

Wilbur has a lot of teenage mishaps which I am sure young boys will find very relatable indeed and might just help to put a smile on a lot of faces.

The book touches upon a lot of issues and really packs a punch.

Quite honestly, it blew me away.

I don’t want to spoil the story for anyone so I will keep this review short and sweet and leave you with my parting words…
