I enjoyed this quite a bit. I really liked the way the author took these three women's stories and wove them together. The three Weyward women are tied together by magic and hardship. Violet and Kate were more similar than Altha, but Altha still dealt with similar issues as them on top of being tried as a witch. All three women had to make terrible and brave choices. All three women went through things that were hard to read about.
Overall, this book isn't very cheery. It's dark with like silver edges of hope.
