Dial A for Aunties
by Jesse Q. Sutanto
Entertaining book, so ridiculous you can’t help laughing. Meddy was raised by her mom and 4 aunts who are the most meddlesome in the best ways. Upset at her daughter’s lack of love life, her mom creates an online dating profile and catfishes her a blind date, who Meddy begrudgingly goes out with and accidentally kills when he makes a move on her. The rest of the story is about the antics and chaos that ensues as her family tries to hide and dispose of the body, all while working a prestigious wedding weekend where the Chan family is the photographer, caterer, entertainment, and makeup artist.
“Just wait until you see what Meddy do to the body. She was very respectful,” Ma says. I can’t believe she’s taking this moment to boast about me being respectful. This is peak Asian parenting”
