Ghost Eaters by Clay McLeod Chapman
5.0

Grief horror is so compelling because grief can take us outside ourselves, take us to the darkest of places. Chapman takes grief horror in a tragic new direction when he introduces us to Erin, devastated by the death of her charismatic friend Silas.

In her despair, Erin’s starts taking “ghost” a shroom that allows her to see the dead. And Gadzooks, Erin takes us to dark places.

Ghost Eaters is heart wrenching tale of grief and addiction. Chapman perfectly and crushingly captures the destruction, paranoia and betrayal of drug use. The revenants were so scary and disturbing, so wonderfully disgusting, they were as terrifying as zombies.

This book is surprising, with unexpected twists and a distressingly relatable MC in Erin.

A smart SMART horror novel that grips you and breaks you. I loved it.
