Nick and Charlie by Alice Oseman

5.0

This is 4.5 stars for me, but I round up. I have been told that this came out in the UK before Heartstopper, but after Solitaire. In that context, I think this makes sense to me. Nick and Charlie are a little less... fleshed out (besides being hopelessly in love). That being said, it was sweet to see that Charlie is mostly okay now and that Nick is not so much of a caretaker for him. (I'm also currently reading Solitaire and in it, Charlie is sicker than he has been seen in any of the Heartstopper books, IMO, including the most recent 4th one, which ends fairly hopefully. (Will the upcoming 5th volume be Solitaire from Nick and Charlie's perspective, because I would find that interesting.) Anyway, it was a nice excuse to stay in this world, with these characters, who are endearing beyond words.
